CENTRALITY OF CREATING ART
Art's usefulness goes far beyond aesthetics. Creating art is central to human existence. I think it is horrendous that we treat the arts like an amenity. They are not. Engaging art helps us lead fuller lives. I am not talking about being 'consumers' of art. I am talking about being 'producers' of art. Creating meaningful art is possible whether or not one is particularly 'talented' at it. Art that is mined and produced as personal expression has its own value.
* If you are grappling with something and you just can't decide what you think about it, create art about it because art explores experience
* If you are mulling over deep questions about who you are or how you should live your life, create art about it because art deepens experience
* If you take a trip and want to share the experience with others so that they might know what it felt like to be there, create art about it because art shares experience
* If you have a profound, transformative experience and suspect the intensity of the moment won't last, create art about it because art retains experience
* Art also fosters connection, reflects culture, enhances pleasure and countless other things

ART AND CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
Maybe the world is bigger
than I imagined
Maybe life is brighter
than I see
Maybe truth is higher
than my conception
Maybe there is much more
that I can be
Maybe I am not alone
or solitary
Maybe there are others
who are linked to me
Maybe a deeper way
of living
weaves us interconnectedly
Maybe if I fill up
with my passion
and practice at least once daily
to meditate and practice
making freedom my life journey
Maybe if I push the limits
of knowing
with others regularly
we can evolve consciousness and culture
and build a Higher We
And maybe through art
we can report our findings
so others can also see
the truth of what we have discovered
Perhaps it's possible
